This is the first of a series by Lincoln Fox called "The Warrior Series," which is Mr. Fox's "homage to everyday people who choose, in their own way, to live extraordinary lives."
Most cultures throughout recorded history have honored the archer with portrayals in art and architecture. There is a reason for this--his bow allowed him to reduce time hunting for food and apply that time to expand civilization. The bow represents man's eternal quest for that which is beyond his reach. Almost as a projection of thought, it is an extension of man's ability to reach for beyond his conceived abilities. The bow has come to symbolize man's potential--both physical and spiritual.
The sculpture can be setup as a working water fountain. Water cascades from each woman's jar(olla). Sculpted in three-quarter round, the piece consists of three generations of Mestizo women (grandmother, mother and daughter)assembling together at the water well.
